POSITION:    LEAPS Afterschool Academy – Academic Tutor

2 Positions-2nd Grade & 3rd Grade

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified teachers who are highly qualified.  M.S. in Education preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse students in an organized setting (school or child care)
  • Staff Physical (within last two years)
  • Background/Fingerprint Clearance (if not on file with school system)

                                                                                            

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver academic enrichment and individualized tutoring activities for up to 20 students.
  • Provide general supervision of students during the afterschool academic sessions and during transition time at the end of the assigned time.
  • Partner with regular day teachers to determine student needs.
  • Maintain records of performance/achievement for assigned students.
  • Assist and support afterschool Team Leaders and other staff as needed.
  • Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and projects.
  • Instruct students on the proper use of supplies.
  • Implement discipline techniques and classroom management.
  • Interact professionally and appropriately with parents, teachers and school staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and on-going training opportunities, as needed. 
  • Complete at least 12 hours of approved professional development, as required by Department of Education guidelines.
  • Comply with all State of Tennessee and Trousdale County Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

POSITION:  Middle School Guidance Counselor

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid Tennessee Teaching License with a School Counseling endorsement(s) (487, 488) or equivalent.  

 

DESCRIPTION: Teacher will be responsible for providing career and postsecondary planning for middle school students in grades 6-8. This person must possess strong collaborative skills to work various departments and educational agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Administrator (482), (483) or Beginning Administrator ILL-B (442) licensure is preferred. Applicants currently enrolled with a Tennessee institution of higher education in an approved leadership preparation program will be considered.

 

DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Principal shall be responsible for curriculum and instruction of grades 9-12 under the direct supervision and guidance of the Principal and Supervisors of Instruction and any other duties assigned by the Principal.

 

JOB LOCATION: Trousdale County High School.

POSITION:  LEAPS Afterschool Academy – Student Mentor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • High school senior or junior (Preferred)
  • Ranked in top 20% of class
  • Of good character, responsible, organized, and able to communicate effectively with younger students
  • Staff Physical (within last two years).
  • Background/Fingerprint Clearance (if not on file with school system)

                                                                                            

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general supervision of students during the afterschool program during snack time, homework, enrichment, and transitions.
  • Facilitate activities and transitions, including being responsible for planning Friday activities, contacting community resources, and leading sessions.  
  • Assist and support afterschool tutors, enrichment teachers and team leaders as needed.
  • Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
  • Instruct students on the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facilities and equipment daily.
  • Inspect the school site and the equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries.
  • Interact professionally and appropriately with parents, teachers and school staff.
  • Complete professional development as required by state programming.
  • Participate in program staff meetings and on-going training opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the Afterschool Academy students, records, and other information.
  • Comply with all State of Tennessee and Trousdale County Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
