Superintendent Message

On behalf of the Trousdale County Board of Education, our employees, and more than 1,350 students, WELCOME to the Trousdale County Schools’ website!
In Trousdale County, we work each day to support our vision, mission, and belief statement to “Accelerate and Graduate All Students for the Careers of Tomorrow.” We are proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence.
We are comprised of three schools; Trousdale County High School, Jim B. Satterfield Middle School, and Trousdale County Elementary School, all of which have a rich tradition in providing high-quality education for all students. Each school is equipped with updated technology that provides students both in-person and a 1:1 digital learning experiences. All schools are equipped with security cameras, automatic alarms, and full-time School Resource Officers. Each school has a full-time school nurse to monitor and support the health of students and staff.
Trousdale County High School, with more than 350 students, prides itself with having some of the state’s highest graduation rates and is consistently ranked in the top 10 for academic achievement in Mathematics and Science. In recent years, the school has expanded its Career Technical Education programs by adding Health Science, TAPs, and Mechatronics as well as implementing multiple dual enrollment opportunities through the local Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT). The school also provides numerous online dual enrollment opportunities through Cumberland University.
Jim Satterfield Middle School, with more than 300 students, has outstanding math achievement results and annually ranks in the state’s top ten percent in grades 6-8 math achievement. The school also offers Art, Music, Keyboarding, Career Exploration, and Advanced PE to enrich each student’s educational experience.
Trousdale County Elementary School is a Title I school with more than 650 students. One hundred percent of the school’s Title I funds are spent towards the development of early literacy skills for all students. The school’s 3rd grade reading proficiency has steadily increased over the years.
As we continue our journey toward excellence, it will be essential for our families to become more informed and involved at all levels of their children’s educational experience. This website will provide answers to most of your questions. If you cannot find an answer to your particular question, please feel free to email or call your child’s school or our office.
Go Jackets,
Jennifer Cothron
Director of Schools
