Superintendent Message
On behalf of the Trousdale County Board of Education, our employees, and more than 1,300 students, WELCOME to the Trousdale County Schools’ website!
In Trousdale County, we work each day to support our vision, mission, and belief statement to “Accelerate and Graduate All Students for the Careers of Tomorrow.” We are proud of our rich tradition of academic excellence as Trousdale County is the only school district in Tennessee that has won the SCORE (State Collaborative on Reforming Education) Prize twice, in 2013 and 2015, for most dramatically raising student achievement. Out of 147 Tennessee school districts, the 2019 NICHE Report ranks Trousdale as the 19th best school district in the state.
We are comprised of three schools, including Trousdale County High School, Jim B. Satterfield Middle School, and Trousdale County Elementary School, all of which have a rich tradition in providing a high-quality education for all students. Each school is equipped with updated technology that provides students both in-person and a 1:1 digital learning experiences. All schools are equipped with security cameras, automatic alarms, and full-time School Resource Officers. Each school has a full-time school nurse to monitor and support the health of students and staff during the COVID pandemic.
Trousdale County High School, with 390 students, prides itself with having some of the state’s highest graduation rates and is consistently ranked in the top 10 for academic achievement in Mathematics and Science. The school has been named a Reward School three times, in 2012, 2014 and 2019, by the State Department of Education as well as a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education in 2015. In recent years, the school has expanded its Career Technical Education programs by adding Health Science and Mechatronics as well as implementing multiple dual enrollment opportunities through the local Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT). The school also provides numerous online dual enrollment opportunities through Volunteer State Community College.
Jim Satterfield Middle School, with its 300 students, has been named Reward School for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019. The school has outstanding math achievement results and annually ranks in the state’s top ten percent in grades 6-8 math achievement. The school also offers Art, Music, Keyboarding, and Advanced PE to enrich each student’s educational experience.
Trousdale County Elementary School, a Title I school with 650 students, was named a Reward School in 2013 and 2019 while touting the highest growth results in the school district. One hundred percent of the school’s Title I funds are spent towards the development of early literacy skills for all students. The school’s 3rd grade reading proficiency has increased from 37.5% in 2011 to 53.2% in 2019.
As we continue our journey toward excellence, it will be essential for our families to become more informed and involved at all levels of their children’s educational experience. I hope this website will provide answers to most of your questions. If you cannot find the answer to your particular question, please feel free to contact your child’s school or our office either by phone or email.
Go Jackets,
Dr. Clint A. Satterfield
Director of Schools
