Caleb Schmittou Named Assistant Principal at TCHS

Caleb Schmittou is a life long Tennessee resident with a heart for education. From the time he was young, he knew he wanted to be in education. While originally from Portland, TN, Caleb is proud to call himself a Yellow Jacket now. 

Caleb graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education with an Emphasis in ELA. He also graduated from the American College of Education with a Master’s of Education with an Emphasis in Literacy and Secondary ELA, and Cumberland University with a Master’s endorsement in Instructional Leadership. 

Caleb has spent 4 years as a teacher at Trousdale County High School where he has taught English 2, English 3, ACT Prep, Senior Seminar, and facilitated Dual Enrollment courses through Cumberland University. He has also served as a class sponsor and a co-sponsor of FBLA and Interact, helping grow these clubs to the largest sizes in TCHS history. 

Alongside his classroom role, Caleb has also served as principal of the Summer Learning Camp program at Trousdale County Elementary School for the past two summers, leading rising Kindergarten- 8th grade students, staff, and teachers, gaining valuable leadership experience and relationships.  He has also served as an ELA tutor for 4th grade students which has given him experience in multiple grade levels. Additionally, he was awarded TCHS Teacher of the Year for the 2022/23 and 2025/26 school years, voted on by the students. 

Caleb is excited about this new opportunity to work alongside Mr. McCall and serve the TCHS community.
