Trousdale Schools Achieve Top Academic Results in 2023-24

Middle and high schools receive an A for the second consecutive year

In its regular December Board meeting, Dr. Clint Satterfield announced that both Trousdale County High School and Jim Satterfield Middle School received an A rating on the most recently released 2023-24 State Report Card. In its second year of existence, the new state A-F letter grade rating system identified only 290 out of 1,700 schools in Tennessee that achieved an A designation which is based on academic achievement, academic growth, progress on English learners’ proficiency in English, graduation rate, and students’ postsecondary readiness such as Ready Graduate rates. “It is important to note that this ranks these two schools in the top 15% of schools in Tennessee while our Elementary School earned a B rating ranking it in the top 50% of schools state-wide. You just don’t often see this this kind of success across an entire school district. It is a testament to the intentional work of our excellent administrators and teachers over many years,” stated Satterfield.

Of the 147 school districts in Tennessee, Trousdale County schools ranked in the top ten in nine proficiency reporting categories consisting of: 8th grade English (44.6%), 7th grade Math (69.8%), 8th grade Math (66.1%), 7th grade Science (74.8%), 8th grade Science (59.5%), 7th grade Social Studies (84.1%), English I (48.5%), US History (62.4%), and Algebra I (46.2%).

Earlier in November, the Tennessee Department of Education released its federal school designations that recognized both Jim Satterfield Middle and Trousdale County High as Reward Schools for the third consecutive year (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24). Reward School calculations includes additional metrics such as student chronically out of school attendance rates and alternative weighing of graduation, achievement, and growth rates. “I am proud of our staff and students to be named a Reward School for the third consecutive year. Our community should be proud of the consistent effort they put in year in and out to educate our students,” stated former principal at Jim Satterfield Middle and current principal at Trousdale County High, J. Brim McCall.

The State Report Card provides families valuable insights into the performance of our schools and how they compare to other schools across Tennessee.  Families can access the State Report Card at www.tdepublicschools.ondemand.sas.com
